Microsoft is backtracking again by bringing back the Start menu to Windows 8, a feature which has sorely been missed by adopters of Microsoft’s latest OS.
The Start menu could be arriving in a Windows 8.1 update as early as August, as Microsoft forgoes its initial plans to release a new large update every 12 months in order to release it a few months after the Windows 8.1 Update 1.
Microsoft backtracking on its original plans for its update is a wise move, as Windows 8 continues to struggle to make a dent in the market despite Windows 8.1 actually being rather good.
Microsoft previously revealed a few glimpses of the new Start menu, along with the OS’s ability to run windowed Metro apps on the Desktop, at its Build conference. However, numerous sources are indicating that Windows 8 Update 2 will be released in either August or September, though the windows Metro apps could be saved for Windows 9, which is currently set to be released in Spring 2015.
