New York Collections | Loris Diran S/S16

The Loris Diran Spring Summer 2016 show entitled “Am I Blue” was mixed with athletic and tailored pieces. The easy juxtaposition of Diran’s design concept for the season shows his passion for style and luxury as a lifestyle concept. The evening show set in the Dimmen Center at the heart of midtown, was the perfect location for this NYFW 11 season veteran.

Highly influenced by the glam culture of the 1970’s, his  French-Armenian heritage is also key to his design aesthetic. The Spring Summer collection consisted of pieces utilizing thoughtful fabrications, from gabardine to neoprene. Also presented were durable knits in various styles. The color palette included blue, brown, grey and beige, making the separates easy transition pieces to integrate into your wardrobe, as this collection reinterprets Summer Navy as a softer alternative to black while maintaining its strength and sensual mystique.

Models wore double-breasted jackets, classic blazers, slim, tailored pants, as well as the drop crotch pant, which made a surprising return. Talk about an interesting combination. If you’re the type of guy who’s bold enough to rock a drop crotch casually, Diran gives you options. Especially of note were crop pants.Whether with a matching suit jacket with contrasting swirl panels (worn shirtless for a 70’s spin), a button down or a fitted sweater, it

was clear that the designer sees this as a staple piece.

Only time will tell if Diran is truly on to something but he’s already a celeb favorite. His designs have been worn by Ricky Martin, Ne-Yo, Beyonce, and has been featured in the hit film, The Devil Wears Prada as well. Keep your fashion eye focused to see how the collection by this former Broadway performer and Capital Records recording artist is received with customers and fans alike.
