Melbourne Fringe Festival has announced its 2015 program, filled to the brim with comedy, theatre, film, dance, music and artistic vibes scattered over 19 days, between 16th September and 4th October.
As The Music reports, this year’s Melbourne Fringe Festival will host the rock/pop/rap/film-noire cabaret of La Petite Mort, complete with sultry singers and a jazz band playing new takes on songs by Amy Winehouse, Taylor Swift and more.
Performance art piece/ritual F(Y)UCK.SEXY? will combine dance, noise, visual art and herbal medicine, while also staking a claim for Title Of The Year.
Comedy-wise, Melbourne Fringe Festival 2015 will feature beloved UK comedian Stephen K Amos and Aussie comedian Luke Ryan, discussing his memoir A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Chemo.
Elsewhere in comedy circles, Anne Edmonds will lead an encore season of her hit comedy You Know What I’m Like, while audience participation will be of utmost importance at Phukclub’s Late Night Comedy Carnage.
Double-bill dance piece As Much Again will analyse how society controls people, while Tim Podesta and Andy Howitt’s Of Mice and Men will put a new spin on the John Steinbeck classic.
This year, North Melbourne’s Arts House will once again act as the Fringe Festival’s central hub, while Fringe Furniture is set to return for its 29th year, with 120 works on display at Abbotsford Convent’s Sacred Heart Chapel.
Melbourne Fringe Festival announced its 2015 theme in July, revealing that it will be asking punters to “look between the lines” at its 401 events held at 174 different venues around the city.
