Google has just announced a brand new Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens browser game for Chrome, and it effectively turns your smartphone into a lightsaber. Suffice to say, we love it.
The browser-based game, titled Lightsaber Escape, can be played by clicking right here. With this being a Google game, you’ll need to be using Chrome in order to access it. You’ll then need to type the following URL into your mobile browser: g.co/lightsaber/xifkp

From there you’ll be asked to calibrate your smartphone by holding it vertically with both hands placed around it, with it then allowing you to swing your motion-controlled lightsaber in the browser game. It’s surprisingly responsive, and actually does a far better job of making you feel like a Jedi than Kinect Star Wars.
The game was created by Google in a collaboration with LucasFilm and visual-effects studio Industrial Lights & Magic, who have worked on the Star Wars films. Utilizing WebGL for its graphics, the game also uses WebRTC and WebSocket to allow for the real-time communication between the player’s desktop and smartphone.
