Looking at the Spring 2016 line by Outerknown, one word will come to mind: covetable. This term is reserved for a particular type of clothing. It has to be incredibly well-made, stylish, and unique. But when you covet something, it typically comes with a price tag that’s a lil’ higher than what you typically spend. Outerknown fits the model.
Here’s the reality, Outerknown makes incredibly wearable, but for the most part, super casual goods. What you will not get from the Outerknown spring line is clothes for the office, though you may be able to wear a few key pieces in a downtown metropolis. If you do, we guarantee you will look like the most laid back guy there. This is because the line is destined for a few places you’d much rather be: the beach, brunch or bbq’ing on the back deck.

While you now know that upon seeing the goods you’re going to want them, and you know where you’re going to wear them, what you probably wouldn’t guess is who designed them for you. Arguably (but is it really an argument?) the best surfer to ever ride a wave, Kelly Slater, founded Outerknown in 2015. And while you might be thinking, “Really?”, the truth is it makes more sense than you might guess.
Kelly Slater spent the vast majority of his professional surfing career exclusively sponsored by Quiksilver. Slater and Quiksilver parted ways in 2014, and now, under the veil of a new name, refined vision and excellent style aesthetic, Slater is back.
Outerknown is available right here, in addition to select retailers across the country.
