Galvin at Windows, London Hilton on Park Lane

I hate to waste a view.

I also hate to waste a great meal. Those two personal preferences met in glorious rapture recently high atop the London Hilton on Park Lane at its penthouse restaurant, Galvin at Windows.

Galvin sits atop the 28 story Hilton on Park Lane in London’s exclusive Mayfair District. Depending on which side of the bar and restaurant you choose, you can look down on the expanse of Hyde Park and Kensington Palace or Central London.

The hotel bar is a prime destination for Mayfair and Whitehall professionals. It offers a prodigious, French-themed wine list, classic cocktails and a few in-house creations varied by season.

While the Hilton is widely known around town as a premiere business hotel, its One Michelin Star Galvin at Windows restaurant is a dining destination for any hotel guest, luxury travelers and even locals in the know. Head Chef Joo Won and his kitchen crew work in the realm of seasonable, regionally sourced modern French cuisine.

Many French classics are on standby, including Potimarron Velouté, Bouillabaisse, Beef Bourguignon and others. I recommend looking farther afield than France and trying some of the meat and seafood selections. 

The roasted loin & ragout of South Downs venison, red cabbage, salsify, dark chocolate and roasting jus is hearty, ambitious recipe, while fillet of stone bass, stir fried pork, artichoke barigoule and coriander has a simpler appeal.

Dinner prices hover around £75, with set chef”s tables menus running north of £100 per visitor. That’s not inexpensive, but this is London – and you’ve got that view to consider.
