DC Reportedly Developing New Batman Movie Trilogy

A new Batman animated movie trilogy based on Batman: Knightfall might be in the works at Warner Bros, according to a recent addition to the EIDR system. The animated DC movies that were produced by Warner Bros were a part of the DCAMU (DC Animated Movie Universe), which was later succeeded by the Tomorrowverse. However, since a change in management at DC Studios and James Gunn and Peter Safran coming in leadership roles, there has been no update on Tomorrowverse. Thus, the new filing has got many fans curious.

Batman: Knightfall to reportedly start a new animated DC trilogy

The latest filing made on the EIDR System states that Warner Bros might be producing new Batman animated movies, and making a trilogy.

According to its website, the EIDR System “provides a unique identifier for audiovisual content across the global entertainment industry.” The aforementioned filing depicted that the movie is in the works and is titled Batman: Knightfall Part 1, which further indicated that Warner Bros is probably making more parts.

Published in April 1993, Batman: Knightfall is a comic book with three parts, Knightfall, Knightquest, and KnightsEnd. The comic book’s storyline revolves around Batman, vigilante Azreal, and the main antagonist, Bane. Additionally, Batman: Knightfall is highly popular among comic book fans due to the narrative where Bane breaks Batman’s back to weaken him.

Apart from that, DC already has Batman: The Brave and the Bold under its belt, which will be a part of Gunn and Safran’s new DCU. Giving an update on the Batman movie, James Gunn recently spoke to Collider.

The DC Studios co-CEO said, “Until we have a screenplay that I’m totally happy with, that movie is not going to get made, no matter what it is. It’s going to be based always on that, on the story, because at the end of the day, if we’re happy with the story that we’re telling, that’s what matters most. And once ‘The Brave and the Bold’ gets to that point, then we’ll make the movie.”
