GMA Weekend Co-Host Exits After 4 Years

In a rather surprising development, ABC’s Good Morning America Weekend co-anchor Janai Norman was let go by the network over the weekend. With no prior hint that this was going to happen, fans of the anchor received quite a shock. Norman reportedly found out about this over the weekend when her expired contract was not renewed by ABC. She addressed her exit on her social media handle.

Janai Norman joined ABC back in 2011 and served as a co-anchor on ABC’s Good Morning America Weekend since 2022. She was let go over the weekend by the network. The veteran anchor found out about this when ABC did not renew her expired contract.

With little prior indication, the development was revealed in Oliver Darcy’s Status newsletter. Norman, who did not get to say goodbye on air, did so in a social media post from her X account.

In the video message, Norman said, “I’d hoped that we’d have more time…and it’s been hard on me that our time was cut short. I have loved my job. It has been a joy to connect with my co-workers and with viewers to help keep you informed and entertained and to create this community.”

She continued, “So it really breaks my heart that I don’t get to say goodbye…I’m so sorry that I don’t get to say goodbye. It would have been fun.”

The host further added, “But I have these three young kids, and I have worked weekends their whole lives, and so now they get more of me, and that is worth everything. So stay tuned. I’m sorry. I feel you and thank you to every single one of you who has reached out with such kind and validating words. I have needed it, and I appreciate it.”

The caption of her post read, “More in time.”
