Y’know when you’re so dedicated to proving a Fortune 500 company wrong that you stuff your computer with a bunch of videos of people banging? Beaston02 knows that feeling, with the Reddit user having decided to test Amazon’s claim that it offered “unlimited” cloud storage, downloading 1.8 petabytes — nearly 2 million gigabytes — of porn in order to do so.

Amazon brought its unlimited cloud storage plan to an end in June, but not before beaston02 could test out their claims of its alleged infinite storage. It turns out that while the plan offered a LOT of storage, it wasn’t quite unlimited, with beaston02 finding that it came to an end at around the 1.8 petabyte mark. This is equal to around 23.4 years of HD video, though much of what beaston02 downloaded was not high-definition, given that he also downloaded many adult webcam streams alongside the videos. As such, other Redditors crunched the numbers and came to the conclusion that he had stored roughly 293 years and six months of porn on Amazon’s cloud storage.

Speaking to Vice‘s Motherboard, beaston02 said of his project:

“It is nearly entirely porn. Ever since I got into computers, I found myself learning more, and faster when it was something more interesting. Call me crazy, but women interest me more than most other things on the internet and there is a huge amount of data being created daily, so it was a good fit for the project.”

He also acknowledged that others would think the project was a little weird, adding: “I know plenty of people have labeled me some huge pervert or someone with a huge porn addiction, but that’s really not me at all. I have more of a problem with collecting or hoarding data than I do with porn.”

While many would question the sincerity of a man who had downloaded 293 years of porn claiming that he didn’t a porn addiction, others have now taken over his duties after he bowed out at 1.8 petabytes. Fellow Reddit user -Archivist has now picked up the slack, continuing to share updates on the subreddit r/DataHoarder. He has currently reached over 2 petabytes using the script that beaston02 initially worked with.

The end result is a weirdly impressive selling point for Amazon’s unlimited cloud storage plan, though has unfortunately garnered attention after the online retailer canned the service. Amazon Drive now boasts more simple plans, offering 1 TB of cloud storage for $59.99. While that could still theoretically store a lot of porn, it unfortunately wouldn’t be able to store enough porn to keep an individual masturbating for three centuries.
