Australian Catholic School Forced To Cover Up An Accidental ‘NSFW’ Statue

Photo: Instagram

A statue of Saint Martin de Porres was recently built and revealed at Blackfriars Priory School in Adelaide last week. The statue shows a religious figure giving a boy a loaf of bread. The only problem is that if you’re a human with a filthy mind (which most of us are), you see something completely different. And that’s mainly due to the bread’s placement.

Take a look at the statue below and see for yourself:

Oh boy.

The school, which teaches boys from nursery up to year 12, actually had to cover up the statue with a black sheet after all the hoopla. And according to the Instagram user who shared the photo, a meeting will be taking place to “discuss the future of the installation.”

Simon Cobiac, the school’s principal, reveals that the statue was made in Vietnam. Cobiac also added this:

“The two-dimensional concept plans for the statue were viewed and approved by the executive team in May but upon arrival the three-dimensional statue was deemed by the executive to be potentially suggestive.

As a consequence, the statue was immediately covered and a local sculptor has been commissioned to re-design it. The school apologizes for any concerns and publicity generated by this matter and is taking action to substantially alter the statue.”

And let’s wrap this up with this incredible photoshop:
