In the near 30 years he’s been in the industry, Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds has made a huge name for himself through his various film and television roles, namely as the Marvel antihero Deadpool, as well as his laugh-inducing Twitter account.
However, he’s found a new industry to break out into: ownership of a booze label.
The 41-year-old actor has purchased liquor company, American Aviation Gin, saying in a statement that it’s “the best tasting gin in the world” and noting his favorite as an Aviation on the rocks.
“If you think all gin tastes the same, you’d be mistaken. Aviation is in a completely different league and I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of the company,” Reynolds said.
Unlike movies featuring celebrity takeovers, Reynolds will not perpetrate some evil plan to overhaul the company, but instead offering a hand to the creative direction of the brand while also holding a stake in the day-to-day business.
“He wholeheartedly embodies the authentic, original spirit of Aviation Gin,” CEO of Davos Brands, Andrew T. Chrisomalis, said in a statement. “Ryan has worked tirelessly to create some of the world’s most iconic media properties and will bring that drive and creativity to sharing Aviation with the world.”
In addition to the day-to-day operations, Reynolds will star in the highly-anticipated sequel Deadpool 2 on May 18, as well as Detective Pikachu on May 10, 2019.
