After much anticipation, the first trailer for Marvel’s Moon Knight has arrived. The latest MCU Disney+ series was revealed during the Rams/Cardinals wild card game, giving us our first look at the character. In addition to revealing the release date for Moon Knight, the trailer also showcases the MCU’s best accent and funniest hairdo all at once.
Moon Knight is certainly one of Marvel’s more underappreciated characters. There isn’t one definitive version of the character. So it comes as no surprise that this series has a great amount of potential to surprise people. Oscar Isaac stars as Marc Spector, a character who suffers from dissociative (multiple) personally disorder. Disney’s official description reads, “The multiple identities who live inside him find themselves thrust into a deadly war of the gods against the backdrop of modern and ancient Egypt.”
Here’s the official trailer:
As you can see, there is a lot of interesting stuff happening here. Most notably, Oscar Isaac’s accent is absolutely phenomenal. The MCU has had its fair share of terrible accents, so it’s a relief to know that Isaac nailed it. Hopefully, this role will redeem his performance in X-Men: Apocalypse. The same can’t be said for Ethan Hawke, who is playing the antagonist in the series.
Although Hawke has been vocal about his distaste of the MCU, he somehow managed to get cast in it. The interesting part about Hawke’s appearance here is that he’s basically playing himself. It’s almost as if Ethan Hawke is cosplaying Kevin Bacon from Tremors. Ultimately, the funniest thing about Hawke’s presence in Moon Knight is that he is making the biggest effort to do the least possible, all while sporting THAT hairdo? It boggles the mind.
Moon Knight is set to premiere on Disney+ on March 30, 2022.
