We’ve reached the point in the pandemic where people are being asked to go back to work. And by that we mean they actually have to show their faces in person again, like, at an office. (Groan.) But one dude named Lucas Mundt decided that he wasn’t going to let the change of scenery get him down. If he couldn’t work from home, he was going to make his workspace homier.
How? Well, he redecorated his cubicle at Simple Modern to resemble a rustic cabin, complete with faux wood floors, a fake fireplace, a stuffed moose head on the wall, and a decal of a window overlooking a lake. He even accessorized with lanterns and a furry throw rug.
Recently one of our newest team members asked if he could decorate his cubical. When I said yes, I wasn’t expecting this… pic.twitter.com/ovivyQbwDL

“Recently one of our newest team members asked if he could decorate his cubical,” the company’s CEO Mike Beckham wrote on Twitter. “When I said yes, I wasn’t expecting this…”
And this is the tame version of what Mundt wanted to do.
“He told me afterward that he actually held back a bit,” Beckham continued. “He had bought an authentic cabin chandelier but realized it was a bit much just before he hung it.”
The pics of Mundt’s creation went viral, forcing him back on Twitter. (Back in the office and on Twitter. Hell of a week.)
“Thanks for the shoutout, Mike!” he tweeted back at his boss. “I truly couldn’t be happier to be working at Simple Modern. The leadership and culture are unlike anywhere I’ve ever worked and it’s exceeded all of my expectations. It’s great to feel home!”

To which another Twitter user responded, “Why does this sound like an ad?”
Why does this read like an ad?

Exactly. You can polish that turd all you like, Lucas, but it still smells like bullshit to us.
