Sun Kil Moon’s Mark Kozelek has a knack for taking very good songs and turning them on their head. Without falling into the lazy cliche of saying he makes them better, he rearranges them, adds his very awesome voice to make you think completely differently about the original. And that’s exactly what he did with Modest Mouse’s fast-paced “Ocean Breathes Salty.”
I would put this song on the short list of greatest covers of all time. Which is why it’s on our list of underrated indie rock songs.
