Radiohead have been confirmed as the first Glastonbury 2017 headliners, with today’s rumours leading to an official announcement from the event’s organisers.
Glastonbury made the announcement on Twitter, posting a photo of the band’s iconic bear logo painted on Worthy Farm’s grass, alongside the words “Friday 23 June 2017 @radiohead”. This will mean that Radiohead will officially kick off the three-day event, with Saturday and Sunday’s headliners still yet to be confirmed.

The bear logo previously sparked speculation earlier today after it was spotted in the live feed of the Glastonbury webcam, with it following rumours circulated by website eFestival who claimed that “well-informed sources” had notified them that Radiohead would be taking to the Pyramid Stage next year. eFestival also claimed that The Stone Roses and Daft Punk would headline the event, too, though it remains to be seen whether or not that will be the case. Radiohead previously headlined Glastonbury way back in 2003, though have played several secret sets since at the festival since then. Their last appearance was back in 2011.
