‘The Leftovers’ Season 3 Promo Promises ‘The End Is Near’

In 2014, the Rapture struck in HBO’s The Leftovers and took a small percentage of the population without a scientific or spiritual explanation. In 2017, the rest of the world may join them!

HBO has announced that the third and final season of The Leftovers is set to debut in April, which is traditionally when HBO releases Game of Thrones. Through the first two seasons, the main focus has been on former Sheriff, Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) and his extended family as they attempted to adjust to the new world and the overpowering sense of loss they felt. In season 2, the Garvey family moved to Miracle, Texas, which was the only town without a single departure. The Murphy family also became main characters that season, including John (Kevin Carroll), a man who may have become Kevin’s friend despite killing him. It’s a long story.

The third season will split its time between Texas and Australia, where Kevin’s father, Kevin Garvey, Sr. (Scott Glenn) has been holed up since late in the first season. This year, the Murphys and the Garveys will once again find their belief systems challenged. And in the first teaser trailer from HBO, Kevin and the rest of the cast are shaken by a warning that “the end is near.”

The Leftovers season 3 will begin on Sunday, April 16 on HBO.
