I was either sleeping or stoned during most of my science classes in college, but even without seeing video proof of it, I’m pretty sure that walking outside during a thunderstorm and standing within 30 feet of a giant metal light pole while you capture video of a lightning show is something that would qualify as a “bad idea.”
Well, a Henderson woman almost learned that the hard way when she stepped outside of her house to record Sunday night’s storm.
Watch as Aida Dominguez records the instant a bolt of lightning struck the light pole that was just 30 feet away from where she was standing.
“I almost couldn’t even tell what happened because everything just got so bright,” Dominguez said. “I don’t know how I was so brave but I did not scream once, I just thought to run!”
Brave? Yeah, that’s one way to put it. Another might be “stupid.”
The good news for Dominguez is that she still has a pulse, and it appears as though she has already learned a lesson about going outside during inclement weather.
“I’ll be staying inside from now on,” she said.
