Tom Hanks Continues His Trend of Transformative Roles in New Music Biopic

Tom Hanks is a master amongst movie masters. He started out as the quirky ’80s comedy quintessential (Money Pit, Turner & Hooch, The ‘Burbs) before becoming a real-life Dan Brown book. But his latest trend of transformative roles, including the new Fred Rogers biopic A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, is about to be continued.

Hanks is set to star in the controversial and colorful role of Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis Presley’s manager, in Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming movie about the legendary musician. Parker, who discovered Presley when he was an unknown and quickly moved in as his lone representation, will join the ranks of various based-on-a-true-story roles that Hanks has played over the years, along the with epic biopic trend currently happening.
