We know, we know. No one reads anymore. (Except you, fine human, because you are reading this article.) But if you find yourself craving the written word, we have a reading suggestion you’re going to flip for. It’s the Spider-Man: No Way Home screenplay.
Yup, the line-by-line version of America’s recent top box office hit is now available for your online reading pleasure courtesy of Deadline’s “Read the Screenplay” series.
Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers penned the 182-page script, which was given the codename title “Serenity Now” because it is full of surprises for Spider-Man fans.
For those unfamiliar with the plot, the story follows Peter Parker after his superhero identity has been revealed to the whole world. Parker is less than happy about the loss of privacy, so he teams up with Doctor Strange to rectify the situation. Chaos ensues, however, when the duo unintentionally breaks open the Multiverse, allowing entry to characters from alternate realities.
But you probably already knew all that because even the least dedicated fans of Spider-Man flocked to the theaters to see this film, helping it shatter box office records.
Now you can relieve the magic (and use your imagination) by reading the movie from opening scene to the cliff-hanging last lines: “Spider-Man leaps and soars over the Rockefeller Christmas tree with a newfound sense of freedom. Liberated from having to juggle two lives. Peter Parker is no more, but Spider-Man lives on….”
