Ariana Grande Debunks ‘Disappointing’ Ethan Slater Dating Rumors

Ariana Grande slammed “disreputable tabloids” and debunked “disappointing” dating rumors concerning her “Wicked” co-star Ethan Slater. In a recent interview while promoting her upcoming film, Grande commented on the rumors for the first time. The “Wicked” movie actors also faced backlash after the rumors surfaced, another subject she addressed during the interview.

Wicked’s Ariana Grande breaks silence on Ethan Slater rumors

Ariana Grande broke her silence regarding her and Wicked co-star Ethan Slater’s dating rumors, which began in 2023. This emerged with speculations that he was her new boyfriend. Grande had only separated from her ex-husband Dalton Gomez for a couple of months when the rumors first began. She blamed “disreputable tabloids” for producing “negativity” about Slater’s family life.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, the “7 Rings” singer said, “Of course, I went through a lot of life changes during the filming of this movie.” She continued how the cast and crew of “Wicked” changed during the filming. “We were away for two years…I understand why it was a field day for the tabloids to sort of create something that paid their bills,” she added.

Ariana Grande claimed, “The most disappointing part was to see so many people believe the worst version of it.” She called it “a tough ride” and emphasized how these rumors attacked considering Ethan Slater. The rumors painted him as someone who walked out of his marriage and family. “There couldn’t be a less accurate depiction of a human being than the one that the tabloids spread about him,” Grande said.

While disagreeing with some of these theories, the singer stated she “will never go into certain details.” Grande praised Slater as someone who “tries harder or spreads themselves thinner to be there for the people that he loves and cares about.” She further elaborated that these rumors could never tarnish his reputation as a good person.

Without much confirmation, Grande exclaimed, “It’s taken me a lot of hard work to be able to last this long.” At the same time, she emphasized the efforts made “to heal certain parts of my relationship.” Additionally, she denounced “these tabloids that have been trying to destroy me since I was 19 years old.”

Grande added, “But you know what? I’m 31 years old and I’m not a perfect person, but I am definitely deeply good, and I’m proud of who I’m becoming.” She also added, ” “I will never let disreputable evil tabloids ruin my life or my perception of what is real and good.”

Starring Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, and others, Wicked releases in theaters on November 22.
