Watch: Mystery Jets’ ‘Someone Purer’ VIdeo

Mystery Jets have revealed the video for their single ‘Someone Purer’, the first to be taken from their fifth album Radlands which is set for release on April 30th.

The video features a dysfunctional family, a long drive and a Karma Police-esque stand-off with a peppy cheerleader. The video follows the announcement this week that bassist Kai Fish has quit the band after 8 years. Speaking about his departure to NME, he said:  “It was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I sat down with the guys and said, ‘I’m finding being in the band really hard, but I’ll try my best to carry on.’ And I did, but feelings just don’t go away.”

It has been almost two years since Mystery Jets’ last album Serotonin saw the band revisit the pop foundations they had laid in their sophomore album Twenty-One to varying degrees of success, and if ‘Someone Purer’ is any indication then it looks like Radlands may continue with this theme.

The band revealed in a promo video for the new album that the production of Radlands saw them “escape to the US to find a new way of doing things”. The full track-listing for the album is as follows:

1. ‘Radlands’
2. ‘Had Me At Hello’
3. ‘Someone Purer’
4. ‘Lonestar’
5. ‘Greatest Hits’
6. ‘Saviour’
7. ‘The Nothing’
8. ‘Roses’
9. ‘Sister Everett’
