Swedish punk band Millencolin led Friday’s six-band Vans Warped Tour second announcement bill for the festival’s Australian return this summer.
In their 21st year together, Millencolin are promising fans all the favourites from the band’s eight released studio albums, the most recent being 2012’s Melancholy Connection.
Also on the bill are 90s ska band Reel Big Fish and ARIA chart topping band The Amity Affliction, plus more Aussie acts in Confession, Hands Like Houses and Buried in Verona.
Millencolin and co join Vans Warped Tour headliners The Offspring plus Parkway Drive, The Used, Simple Plan and New Found Glory for six dates hitting Brisbane, Coffs Harbour, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne then Adelaide over Novemeber and December.
Promoter AJ Maddah made headlines earlier this week when he described the festival’s move from Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse to Birrarung Marr along the Yarra River as an attempt to avoid Stereosonic’s “juicers and pillpoppers”, causing a Twitter-mini controversy among Aussie festival promoters.
Melbourne is shaping up to be the first leg of the tour to sell-out with 3,000 tickets remaining ahead of Friday’s lineup announcement.
