The 2014 Triple J Hottest 100

Another massive Australia Day holiday was celebrated with the Hottest 100 bumping in the background of parties across the nation. This year’s top 10 included a diverse range of music and even a surprise winner. Here is the 2014 top 10 as voted by you.

10. London Grammar– Strong

Released in September last year, Strong went to No.16 on the UK Singles Chart and became the band’s first top 10 track in Australia, going as high as 10.

8. Matt Corby– Resolution

Resolution peaked at No.5 on the ARIA Singles Chart and was a nomination for the ARIA Song Of The Year, while also getting some radio time in New Zealand and the UK.

7. Lana Del Ray– Young And Beautiful

Lana Del Ray’s single for the Baz Luhrmann, Leonardo DiCaprio collaboration The Great Gatsby, made a top 10 appearance despite being released back in May. It made it to No.22 on the Billboard Hot 100 and enjoyed a ton of success in Greece (No.2) while also clocking top 10 results in Israel Hungary and Australia.

6. Arctic Monkeys– Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?

The third single from the Arctic Monkey’s hugely successful AM album, Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High? was hugely popular with Aussie audiences and even resulted in a creative cover from Jagwar Ma.

5. Flume & Chet Faker-  Drop The Game

Rising DJ/producer Flume teamed up once again with Melbourne’s Chet Faker to produce another hit for the 22-year-old star; peaking at No.21 on the Aussie charts and No.1 in the indie category.

Unsatisfied with just one appearance in the Hottest 100 top ten, Do I Want To Know? Charted far better than Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High? despite less commercial success.

3. Daft Punk– Get Lucky ft Pharrell Williams

Daft Punk’s ‘Random Access Memories’ failed to live up to the massive hype surrounding the release of the electronic duo’s fourth studio album, however the success of Get Lucky was undeniable. A No.1 hit in 21 countries, Get Lucky stormed the world instantly and sold 7.3 million copies in a five-month span.

2. Lorde- Royals

New Zealand’s teen sensation Lorde became the youngest artist to nab the No.1 US Singles ranking in more than 25 years and the first solo kiwi artist to claim the honour.

1.Vance Joy– Riptide

23-year-old singer-songwriter Vance Joy burst onto the music scene with the hugely popular Riptide, an upbeat ukulele-heavy inspired track that charted in the UK, Ireland and Scotland.
