A new online multiplayer game titled Kill Strain was unveiled today during Sony’s PlayStation Experience event.
The top-down free-to-play shooter, which the developer insisted will not punish players for not pumping money into it, will adopt a 5 vs. 2 vs. 5 team structure, and is a brand new IP from the team at San Diego Studios.

Unfortunately no gameplay footage was shown during the keynote presentation, though it will be entering into an extensive beta at some point during 2015. When it was announced that the game’s official site, killstrain.com, was online for players to sign up for the beta, it immediately buckled under the pressure and at the time of this writing, the site is still down.
There has been no word on how San Diego Studios will attempt to monetize the game, but with the developer’s assurance that in this instance free-to-play doesn’t mean pay-to-win, consider us intrigued by this one.
Kill Strain is expected to launch at some point next year, though no official release date has been given.
