Steven Gerrard has revealed where his post-Liverpool career is taking him, with him set to join Major League Soccer club LA Galaxy as a coach.
LA Galaxy’s coach Bruce Arena confirmed the US club’s acquisition, telling the LA Times: “Steven Gerrard arrives in July and by then we will certainly have a plan available. He’s a player of quality. I’m not concerned about how he’s going to fit in with our team.
“We have a club now with a proven history of success. All those things go hand in hand in making LA Galaxy a very attractive team for players such as Steven Gerrard.”

The MLS has proven to be a great stomping ground for ex-Premier League players, with David Beckham famously moving to LA Galaxy following his four-year stint in Real Madrid. Speaking of his move to the US, Gerrard said: “I think it’s a match made in heaven really. One of the reasons I chose LA Galaxy was because of the success they’ve had recently.”
He continued: “I want to finish my career very strong. I want to add some medals and trophies to my collection. I don’t want to get to a certain age in my life and have any regrets. I’ve had many an opportunity to move away from Liverpool and I’ve always turned it down.
“[The] time is right to go [now] and sample something different and get a new life experience.”
Gerrard has joined the MLS defending champions on an 18-month deal, with the former Liverpool and England captain set to earn $9 million for his two seasons with the club.
