Pete Doherty has unveiled a track he recorded in the wake of Amy Winehouse’s death in 2011, titled ‘Flags of the Old Regime’.
The single, which will be released in aid of the Amy Winehouse Foundation, is expected to appear on Doherty’s upcoming second solo album. the follow-up to 2009’s Grace/Wastelands.

Doherty and Winehouse were close friends prior to her passing, with the Libertines’ frontman even revealing that they had embarked upon an affair while they both continued to struggle with their respective issues with drug and alcohol abuse.
A YouTube video uploaded by Doherty showing the pair playing with baby mice attracted much attention back in 2008, appearing to depict the pair in a drug-fuelled haze. The singer died in July, 2011 from alcohol poisoning.

Doherty and Libertines bandmate Carl Barat have stated that they are working on a new album following the band’s reformation, with Barat claiming that the pair have written five new tracks for the record. It will be their first LP since their self-titled 2004 sophomore release.
