Gameplay footage of the upcoming EA/DICE Star Wars Battlefront game will likely be unveiled at GDC this week, following a behind-closed-doors airing of it to GameStop employees.
The footage, which reportedly received a standing ovation at the secretive event, will be the first slice of gameplay to have been shown to a public audience. The game is pegged to launch at the tail-end of 2015, around the time of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens‘ release date. The gameplay demo was introduced by Peter Moore, former VP of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business division and current head of EA Sports.

Little is known about the upcoming game at this moment in time, aside from leaked information which appeared online in February which claimed that the game would span the entirety of the Star Wars film saga, whilst also featuring battle from the upcoming J.J. Abrams movie.
It would certainly make sense for Star Wars Battlefront to have its first reveal at GDC, though it’s likely that EA will want to save the majority of details regarding the release for E3 2015. Still, I’d love to be able to see some gameplay footage, and considering these reports indicate that it went down very well with its audience at the closed-door event, I’m excited to see just what EA and Battlefield developer DICE has in store for us.
Star Wars Battlefront will be the next release in the Battlefront series, after the planned Star Wars: Battlefront III was scrapped following the closure of LucasArts. Leaked footage of Battlefront III‘s alpha footage has since leaked online, so if you want to take a look at what the game was going to look like, and perhaps get an idea of where DICE could be headed with its follow-up, watch the video below:
