Foo Fighters and Muse to Headline Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2015

Foo Fighters and Muse have been announced as the headliners of Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2015 in Norwich.

The festival, which will take place on May 23rd-24th, will see Muse take to the Main Stage on the Saturday, following performances from the likes of Florence & the Machine, 5 Seconds of Summer, David Guetta, Ben Howard, The Vaccines, Fall Out Boy and Charli XCX.

On the same day Snoop Dogg will be performing at the festival’s New Music We Trust stage (because Snoop Dogg is a young up-and-comer, apparently), which will also feature Rudimental, Jess Glynne, Hozier, Years & Years, Ella Eyre, Slaves, Mallory Knox and Circa Waves.

On Sunday 24th Foo Fighters will take over headlining duties, preceded by sets from Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, Rita Ora, George Ezra, Clean Bandit, Olly Murs and Imagine Dragons.  The New Music We Trust Stage will be graced by a headline performance by Jamie T, along with other performances from Alt-J, Sigma, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Jungle, James Bay, SOAK, Raury and Lower Than Atlantis.

Muse frontman Matt Bellamy said that the band’s last performance at Big Weekend was “a disaster”, so he is going to “make up for it” this May.

The BBC has distributed 50,000 free tickets to the festival, with it also set to be broadcast live on Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra, and livestreamed on the Radio 1 website. All the performances will also be available to listen to on iPlayer following the event, while BBC Three is set to produce highlights packages for those who plan to watch from home.
