Vancouver Folk Music Festival Reveals Line-Up

Organizers of the 38th annual Vancouver Folk Music Festival announced its July line-up, and it includes more than 60 artists like the legendary Taj Mahal as well as Trampled by Turtles.

Taj Mahal is considered to be one of the most influential figures in late 20th-century blues and roots music, while Trampled by Turtles out of the US is a bluegrass band who will likely play tunes from their latest high-energy album Wild Animals.

Taking place on the weekend of July 17-19, Jericho Beach Park will play host to an incredible weekend of music with acts representing over 14 countries, 10 US states, and seven provinces and territories. Other performers include Sadies, Phosphorescent, Hawksley Workman, Basia Bulat, Said the Whale, Jenn Grant, Jill & Matthew Barber, the Strumbellas, Lindi Ortega, Frazey Ford, the Wilderness of Manitoba, Mary Gauthier, Old Man Luedecke, and Pokey LaFarge.

The Vancouver Folk Music Festival will also showcase international talents from across Africa with kora players Sousou & Maher Cissoko, the semba sounds of Angola’s Paulo Flores, South African rising star, Bongeziwe Mabandla, and the return of the amazing Bassekou Kouyaté & Ngoni Ba.

Main stage schedules will be posted on the event’s website in the coming weeks. Weekend passes cost $145 (plus fees) and early bird tickets can be purchased here.
