Having recently covered a Muppet Movie classic with none other than Kermit The Frog, singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has taken to the other side of the musical spectrum by covering Iron Maiden and Limp Bizkit on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, suggesting that he isn’t at all frightened by how metal fans might react.
In a recent segment (below), an in-character Fallon asked his audience, “Do you enjoy the morbid and disturbing themes of heavy metal music but wish that it had a more cheerful, pleasant sound?”
Then, the talk show host announced that Ed Sheeran has developed a new album containing “25 heavy metal songs the whole family can enjoy”, titled Ed Sheeran Sings Heavy Metal. That’s the amazing album cover, above.
Giving fans a taste of the new fake record, Sheeran performed short covers of Iron Maiden’s iconic Run To The Hills and Limp Bizkit’s Break Stuff. He also dropped a bonus cover of rapper Ty Dollar Sign’s Paranoid. Catch the footage if you dare, below.
Sheeran will tour Australia for the second time this year in November and December.
