Syfy Orders Beau Smith’s Wynonna Earp To Series

After 18 years, Beau Smith’s Wynonna Earp is coming to Hollywood…by way of Canada!

Syfy has picked the rights for the live-action Wynonna Earp series that was developed for television by Emily Andras (Lost Girl). The series will follow the title character, Wynonna Earp in a modern supernatural western described as “Justified meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer, if Buffy could hold her whiskey and only wore cowboy boots.”

As her name suggests, Wynonna Earp is the descendent of the real life lawman, Wyatt Earp. Within the world of the comic and the TV series, Wynonna has inherited Wyatt’s skills, his gun, and his demonic enemies from Hell. Smith began publishing Wynonna Earp comics in 1997, but IDW is the current publisher for the series.

Melanie Scrofano (Damien) has already been cast as Wynonna Earp, with Tim Rozon (Being Human) slated to play Doc Holliday, and Shamier Anderson (Constantine) as the enigmatic Agent Dolls.
