Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell is already having a busy year as the star of the upcoming Ash vs. Evil Dead series on Starz and as the host of CONtv’s Last Fan Standing. But if Campbell has his way, he’ll soon be hosting another new show.
Deadline is reporting that Campbell and former King of the Nerds producers Craig Armstrong and Rick Ringbakk are shopping around a new reality competition series called Bruce Campbell’s Horrified. The project will reportedly be a celebration of “horror fans through a comedic and irreverent lens” with Campbell as the host and an executive producer. 5X5 Media and Warner Horizon TV are also producing Bruce Campbell’s Horrified.
While the final concept for the series has not yet been finalized, the report indicates that “the contestants would live together, possibly in a haunted house-type of residence, and will compete in a series of team and individual challenges, with each episode themed around a horror sub-genre, like monster, sci-fi, psychological, zombie, etc., completed with decors, costumes and visual effects associated with that genre.”

“From where I’m sitting, this is the first time a reality series has melded competition and comedy with the fun and fear of the horror genre,” said Campbell in a statement. “It’s a sweet spot I love and to pull it off takes a team of creative, industrious and slightly insane people – which is, of course, why I wanted to do it!”
Of course, the hard part will be finding a network for Bruce Campbell’s Horrified. Syfy seems like it would be ideal home for the series, but perhaps AMC and A&E may also be interested in it.
