It’s pretty safe to say that Seth MacFarlane has never been a big Bill Cosby fan. For many years, MacFarlane skewered Cosby with jokes on Family Guy. But largely, that was before the sexual assault and rape allegations against Cosby resurfaced earlier this year. Now, over 50 women have come forward to accuse Cosby of sexual misconduct.
While Cosby has maintained his innocence, he’s largely lost the PR battle for the hearts and minds of the general public. Repeats of Cosby’s seminal ‘80s sitcom, The Cosby Show have been pulled and Cosby has been under intense media scrutiny that has tarnished his reputation.
Last night on Family Guy, MacFarlane revisited the issue by assembling almost the entire core cast of the series to watch “The Cosby Show…knowing what we know now.” What followed was a riff on The Cosby Show’s “Kiss Me” theme song in which the actresses who played Cosby’s wife and children appeared to be drugged while Cosby danced and gyrated. Even the late Bea Arthur and the NBC peacock don’t emerge unscathed.
Since its initial broadcast, Family Guy’s latest Cosby Show parody has gone viral. And that’s another round that Cosby has lost in the ongoing battle for his legacy.
