Last month, Joel Hodgson and Shout! Factory launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring back Mystery Science Theater 3000 for a new season with a brand new cast. To date, the campaign has amassed $4.4 million dollars, which will ensure at least nine new episodes will be made. And to gear up for the final days of the Kickstarter campaign, the big guns are coming out.
The Wrap is reporting that Jerry Seinfeld, Mark Hamill, and Joel McHale have all been confirmed to make guest appearances on the new season of MST3K. Additionally, former Mythbusters host Adam Savage is joining the show to consult about the “practical effects” that will be used in the new series.
Community creator Dan Harmon and The LEGO Movie 2 director Rob Schrab will contribute to the new MST3K as guest writers. Other guest writers will include comedian Dana Gould, the comedy band Paul & Storm, Rick & Morty co-creator Justin Roiland, Ready Player One author Ernie Cline, and Book of Mormon co-writer Robert Lopez.

The Nerdist podcast co-host Jonah Ray was recently named the new host of MST3K, with geek icon Felicia Day as the new mad scientist, Kinga Forrester and Patton Oswalt as TV’s Son of TV’s Frank. Comedians Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn will provide the voices of Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo, respectively.
According to the latest update on the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Kickstarter page, $375 thousand has been raised for the new series off of Kickstarter. If the total funding reaches $5.5 million, a 12 episode season of MST3K will be produced. The campaign will run until Friday, December 11 at 10pm PST.
