The World Gaming Championships (i.e., the creme de la creme of gaming contests), is hitting Scotiabank Theatre – the champion has the chance to take home a whopping $25,000 in prize money.
Gamers flock to this event, which puts players head to head in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 as they vie for more than $50,000 in prizes. Games are projected onto massive screens, and fans are invited to come out and watch the shooting action (for the small fee of $9.50 per ticket).
Online pre-registration begins today, with online qualifiers competing March 24 – April 17, Regional Finals taking place May 1st, and the Canadian Championship is scheduled for May 29th.
According to reports, Cineplex will invest $15m into eSports gaming plans, as ESports revenues will surpass $500M in 2016, Deloitte Canada’s Duncan Stewart predicts.
