Shane Warne has called Waleed Aly ‘arrogant,’ ‘smug’ and ‘a dick’ after an interview with the journalist went south on The Project.
Warne was being interviewed about a stint in South Africa where he had just been evicted from jungle reality show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Aly asked Warne to comment on his charity, The Shane Warne Foundation, which is facing an audit after months of speculation around its dire financial situation, while its expensive gala dinners and events continued to flash money.
Warne replied, “I have been in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in isolation for six weeks so I have no idea what’s going on there at the moment. I have done 13 hours of PR straight.”
He claimed that no one in the foundation had ‘taken a cent,’ adding, “You can all get stuffed if you wanna have a go at us about it, but we’re very, very proud of what we’ve been able to achieve.” When Aly commented that they’d have to see what the auditers said, Warne shot back, “You’re doubting me, mate. You think we’ve got something to hide.”
He then took to Twitter in anger this morning, saying, “Disappoints me some journo’s think in an interview being a dick is cool. Tip, if u want people back don’t be inappropriate, arrogant or smug.”
No hard feelings, I guess.
