Room Wins Big At Canadian Screen Awards

At the Canadian Screen Awards’ gala this past weekend, the drama “Room” took home a total of nine awards.

It won for Best Picture, Best Actor (awarded to Jacob Tremblay, who has won a number of other awards while touring the film circuit), Best Director (which went to Lenny Abrahamson). The film also won Best Actress (to Brie Larson) and Best Supporting Actress (to Joan Allen). In total, it won nine awards.

Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy won the Best TV comic actress and Best TV comic actor categories in TV for their work on Schitt’s Creek.

Other winners included The Book Of Negroes for Best TV movie, Best actor for a drama went to Ari Millen of Orphan Black, with Best actress for a drama being awarded to Tatiana Maslany. Sunnyside won Best Performance for Variety or Sketch Comedy.

The Canadian Screen Awards were hosted by comedian Norm MacDonald.
