Guelph’s annual Hillside Festival, running this July, recently announced its line-up for this year’s event, and it includes Buffy Sainte-Marie (who will be joined by an alternative country band, Sadies), as well as SUUNS, Holy F–k, Rose Cousins, Noah23, and Ben Caplan.
“It’s this weird weekend of discovery,” said Vish Khanna, the festival’s media co-ordinator, to CBC News. “I mean, come on. That’s amazing. The fact that those two are going to perform together, that The Sadies are backing up Buffy, that’s just one in a million. This is a really, really solid artistic lineup and some incredible performers — things that people don’t know that well, maybe, that are really going to blow their minds.”
The Hillside Festival is a three-day, five-stage event with a “broad artistic vision,” their website states, that emphasizes diversity of culture, musical heritage and style, age, geography, and influence. The event is known across the country as one of Canada’s most progressive, environmentally conscious, completely non-corporate community festivals. There’s music, crafts, food, and much more.
The Hillside Festival runs from July 22-24 at Guelph Lake, and tickets will go on sale Saturday, April 30th at 9am. Visit their website.
