Mother Acquires 12 Bags Of Cocaine For Daughter’s 18th Birthday, Is Arrested

Some moms just know how to party. And, as is the case of Nicola Austen of Southborough in Kent, England, they’ll even get arrested for it if they’re in the process of showing their 18-year-old daughter “a good time.” This was apparently the reasoning behind the 5.65g of cocaine found in Mama Austen’s house by drug-sniffing dogs prior to a planned limo trip to London in celebration of her daughter’s big birthday.

Unsurprisingly, this was not Austen’s first drug conviction. According to The Sun, she has had six previous court convictions over the course of her lifetime, one of which involved the possession of amphetamines in 2010. Amazingly, her defendant Danny Moore was able to suspend the nine-month prison sentence she received for a year, citing the adverse effects her time away would have on a young boy in the family if she was jailed. She also provides care for her elderly grandmother, which worked in her favor, as well.

Along with her suspended jail sentence, Austen was told to complete 250 hours of unpaid work. But considering that she admitted to possessing cocaine with intent to supply, it still seems like she got off lightly.
