With all of the options available to people who have had three or four or nine whiskey and colas in terms of finding a way to get home these days, if you’re still getting behind the wheel of your car and giving it a go, you’re a goddamn moron. I mean, whether it’s a cab, train, Uber or get this, walking, getting home after a night on the town without driving your own vehicle has never been easier.
Then again, something tells us nothing has or ever will come easy for this guy.
Meet Elwood Gutshall. He’s the 44-year-old Newville, Pennsylvania man who was arrested last month for driving under the influence (again) after police witnessed him “committing multiple traffic violations.”
After pulling him over in the early morning hours of March 19, they determined that he was “under the influence of alcohol beyond what he could safely operate a motor vehicle,” and a subsequent blood draw at the cop shop confirmed their suspicions when his BAC came in at .217. Because his BAC registered higher than .16, Gutshall was slapped with a charge of DUI Highest Rate along with driving under DUI suspension and multiple traffic violations.
Of course, even though Gutshall was convicted of damn near the same thing in 2011, on the surface, the story still lacks that “newsworthy” component. But the fact that he was wearing a “Drunk Lives Matter” shirt when he was arrested should do the trick.
