As much as brilliant mind Elon Musk wants to better out future, one thing I know for certain is that I would rather always be the one handling my car and not leave it up to “autopilot.” And one driver in California found out that it’s better to stay away from autopilot. Then again, he was drunk behind the wheel. So yeah, it’s his fault.
The unidentified driver was found passed out in a Tesla on the Bay Bridge by cops. And when confronted by cops the driver simply told them that his car was on autopilot, so there’s no need for them to worry that he was drunk driving. Yeah, that didn’t work.
When u pass out behind the wheel on the Bay Bridge with more than 2x legal alcohol BAC limit and are found by a CHP Motor. Driver explained Tesla had been set on autopilot. He was arrested and charged with suspicion of DUI. Car towed (no it didn’t drive itself to the tow yard). pic.twitter.com/4NSRlOBRBL

This dude was arrested and charged with suspicion of DUI with a blood alcohol content “more than” twice the legal limit. And according to Tesla officials, the car’s autopilot is intended for use “only with a fully attentive driver.” Makes sense.
