Russian News Channel Tries To Pass Video Game Clip As Real War Footage

While the Russians may or may not have meddled in our elections, they apparently aren’t very good when it comes to obtaining real war footage. Either that or they can’t tell the difference.

According to Gizmodo, Russian state TV recently aired a short video clip that was supposed to be from a war in Syria. But instead they aired a clip from a video game called ARMA 3. The news channel was showing a segment on Kremlin-controlled Channel One TV honoring a soldier slain in Syria. That’s right, kids. This was supposed to be a tribute and all they could get their hands on was video game footage.

Check out the short clip below:

This isn’t the first time that Russia has done this as president Vladimir Putin and Russia’s Foreign Ministry have been busted using video game footage for propaganda purposes. And it’s pretty damn bizarre as there are tons of actual war footage they could use, but maybe they’re just into video games.

For those that are interested in ARMA 3, it’s a game set in 2030, where Russia and NATO forces square off. No word yet if Donald Trump was fooled by the footage.
