It’s the year 2018 and for some reason people still believe that the earth is flat. What’s even worse than that? Some of those folks are even brave enough to announce to the world that they believe the earth is flat. And what’s even way worse than that? Some folks actually build a rocket and launch it into the sky in an effort to prove to everyone the earth is flat. Well, only one person did that.
“Mad” Mike Hughes, a self-declared flat earth researcher decided to take it upon himself to build a rocket and blast himself about 1,875 feet into the sky. The fact that Hughes build a rocket is impressive. The fact that he completely failed and almost killed himself during his launch his not. According to Gizmodo, Hughes took off from Amboy, California in order to show everyone that says the earth is not flat, that they are wrong. Well, check out the launch below:
And thanks to Amboy town manager Carlos Aceves, here’s another video of Hughes being pulled out of the ruckus by paramedics:
And another:
Hughes was lucky enough to only escape with a sore back, but here’s what he had to say about the failed launch:
“I’m tired of people saying I chickened out and didn’t build a rocket. I’m tired of that stuff. I manned up and did it … This thing wants to kill you 10 different ways. This thing will kill you in a heartbeat.
Am I glad I did it? Yeah. I guess. I’ll feel it in the morning. I won’t be able to get out of bed. At least I can go home and have dinner and see my cats tonight.”
