Mandatory Drunk of the Week: Inebriated Grandma Breaks Into Closed Swimming Pool With Friend, Of Course Break All Their Legs

We’ve all been there. We have a few too many wobbly pops and things get a little crazy. We end up stealing a traffic cone or drunkenly texting an ex. We regret our actions the next day and send out texts to anyone who might have been affected by our drunken shenanigans. But, while we’ve all had our regrettable evenings due to overconsumption of Jager or shots of bottom-shelf tequila, there’s a pretty good chance none of us have ever broken into a closed swimming and attempted to go down a water slide.

You might be thinking that scenario is a little too specific to not be true. This is because it actually happened in August in Hampshire, England. But the story only gets stranger. You’re probably assuming the perpetrators were teens or at most college-age revelers. You’d be wrong.

A 46-year-old grandmother named Claire Vickers and her 44-year-old friend Barry Douglas broke into a closed swimming pool called Aldershot Lido in the city after a night of drinking.

Obviously, the evening didn’t go as planned. Due to their inebriated state, the duo didn’t realize that attempting to go down a closed water slide was a really bad idea. Since the park was closed and the water was off, the pair poured some water down the slide in hopes it would be enough to propel them to the bottom. It wasn’t.

Not only did they become trapped in the slide for hours before being rescued, but they also crashed into a barrier that was left at the bottom, shattering their shins and breaking their feet.

In the pantheon of regrettable drunken shenanigans, we can only hope the pair learned from their mistake. On the plus side, at least they don’t have to apologize to anyone via text.
