Being a best man comes with a lot of pressure. You have to plan the bachelor party while also keeping the groom out of trouble. You have to attend all of the wedding events. You have to give a speech that is both inspiring and humorous. But, most importantly, you have to keep track of rings. Literally, your main job is to make sure you don’t lose any of the wedding rings you’ve been entrusted to hold.
That’s why we always find great humor when the best man botches his one major job. That’s exactly what happened recently when a best man named Billie Christie took the groom’s (his brother Eddie) ring and handed it to the priest. Everything seemed like it was going fine until the time came to hand over the bride’s ring.
It was tied to a white pillow and, as he attempted to untie it, he dropped it. And, while that might not seem like a big deal, the ring actually fell down a poorly placed grate. Luckily, disaster was averted as the videographer (named Grace Bail who uploaded a now removed TikTok video) was able to open the grate and, after a few tense moments, get the ring.
We’re sure Christie will be reminded of this cringe-worthy moment for the rest of his days. But he’s probably glad it didn’t go as poorly as it could have.
