PAX Prime: What You Should Know and Expect From PAX Prime

With Gamescom sadly coming to a close, the number of major gaming events for the year has started to dwindle down to the remaining few. Luckily, fans that can’t wait for their next set of announcements won’t have to wait long, as PAX Prime 2013 will be kicking off Friday, August 30th and will be running till Monday, September 2nd, 2013, making it the first four day PAX event in history. Taking place in Seattle, Washington, this year’s PAX Prime will be host to some of the biggest names in gaming. Here’s what you should expect from the event.

Sony

Sony has confirmed that fans will get one more shot at getting their hands on the PlayStation 4 before release at PAX Prime 2013. What the complete list of titles they will show off has yet to be confirmed, but if we follow what we’ve been seeing at E3, San Diego Comic Con, and Gamescom they will certainly have titles worth checking out. Octodad: Dadliest Catch has been at every Sony booth since the PS4 reveal, as well as Drive Club and Knack, so it seems safe to at least expect those.

Beyond our best guess-work, we do know that Secret Panchos, Contrast, and Galak-Z are without a doubt going to be playable.

Given Sony likes to present as many titles as possible in their booths, it wouldn’t surprise me to see Beyond: Two Souls, Gran Turismo 6, Puppeteer, Killzone: Mercenaries, Tearaway, or any number of other PS3 or Vita titles, as a great deal of those will be launching in the near future. As such, they are polished and ready for gamers to demo.

Also, if you’re wanting to catch some of the best Sony related panels, be sure to follow:

Microsoft

Seeing as Microsoft will have a comparable amount of space at PAX Prime 2013 as Sony, gamers should expect to be able to get their hands on the Xbox One just like they had at E3 and San Diego Comic Con 2013. The titles that will be playable still have yet to be confirmed, but Killer Instinct, Ryse: Son of Rome, Forza 5, and Dead Rising 3 have been the key showcases for Microsoft’s Xbox One, so they are likely candidates.

Kinect Sports Rivals is confirmed to be playable at the show, and will be the premier game for showing off the new Kinect 2.0. The Xbox 360 will make itself known at the show as well, but expect a great deal of third-party support.

If you are looking for any Microsoft panels, you can join and/or watch Major Nelson Radio live on the show floor.
