I’m always excited for any new Mike Judge show. During the Television Critics Association Press Tour, HBO presented Judge’s upcoming series “Silicon Valley;” a comedy about a tech startup. It looks as biting and perceptive as ever as the show joked about inaccurate Siri results and techie personality types.
I’m even more concerned, however, about the future of Judge’s creation “Beavis and Butt-Head.” Last we saw them, a new season of episodes aired on MTV. But that was back in 2011. If Judge was busy creating “Silicon Valley,” that’s fine. But when I asked him if he’d be able to do more “Beavis and Butt-Head” episodes and he explained the complicated state of his own creation.
“That kind of caught up in some kind of changeover of the top brass of MTV,” explained Judge. “I’m kind of trying to sell it to another network, and I haven’t [yet]. “I’m just happy doing this one right now.”
I don’t know how that story slipped through the cracks two years ago but I have not been able to find any details on MTV’s rights to “Beavis and Butt-Head.” The good news is, that’s only technical stuff. Creatively, Judge is eager to see Beavis and Butt-Head again.
“You never know,” he said. “I mean, that’s one of those things that could come back.I still like ‘em.”
“Silicon Valley” premieres in April and we will have an interview with Mike Judge for you at that time.
