Matt Damon is an energetic and gregarious guy, and a talented actor… who can’t speak French. In George Clooney’s The Monuments Men (opening in theaters February 7th, Damon plays James Granger, a WWII-era art scholar who must employ every bit of his broken French to convince a French resistance fighter (played by Cate Blanchett) to help him find the millions of artistic works stolen by the Nazis. Damon sat down with CraveOnline‘s Witney Seibold to discuss his workload as an actor, how much art study he did, and how much he really delved into the French dialogue. And, of course, he reveals which record he first bought with his own money.
Not in the video: Matt Damon called Witney the “best-dressed man I’ve seen today.” And, since we all imagine he talks to people like George Clooney and Brad Pitt on a daily basis (movie stars all hang out together, right?), that’s quite a compliment.
