Well, since Hawkeye is such a big hit when dealing with Clint Barton’s off-duty hours, one supposes it makes sense that they’d try to grab the same flavor with his on-duty time. Judging from this preview, that seems to be the case with the new Secret Avengers #1, due out March 12.
However, it does look like it’ll maintain the plot threads from the current stellar run of the title, as well it should, since writer Ales Kot has been co-writing with Nick Spencer for a while now, and he’ll be taking over the book solo. What else is fantastic news? MODOK will be a part of the team, at least at the start – which makes sense, since he’s selling out the rest of A.I.M. currently. Here’s the official blurb:
The Earth is in danger. And only the world’s most effective secret squad can save it. Too bad that’s NOT the Secret Avengers! Three missions kick off at the same time: one in the air, one on the ground, and one in…space?! And no one is ready for what comes next – except the attackers! Now, Fury, Coulson, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Spider-Woman, Maria Hill, and even the villainous M.O.D.O.K. must work together if they hope to achieve the impossible. But first, they’ll have to survive!
A possible strength – and also a possible weak spot – lies in the group’s capacity to work together,” says Kot. “Unless they learn how to do that, they will be picked off one by one. Because something is coming for them. And not just from one direction.”
