The Many Loves of The Amazing Spider-Man

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is dominating the box office this weekend, even though the reviews for the film haven’t been very enthusiastic. However, the greatest compliments given to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 have been centered around the romantic chemistry between Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker and Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy.

If the Sam Raimi films were your introduction to Spider-Man, then you may be wondering why Mary Jane Watson wasn’t in the first two films of the rebooted series by Marc Webb. Shailene Woodley was cast as Mary Jane for the second movie, but she was cut out during post production. Regardless, Webb’s films are somewhat true to the original Spider-Man comics by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko; in which Gwen Stacy was Peter Parker’s first real girlfriend. But she wasn’t his first love, or even his second.

As both Peter Parker and Spider-Man, this Marvel Superhero has had several girlfriends (and one wife!) over the past five decades of his comic book adventures. But outside of Mary Jane and Gwen, most of Spidey’s exes are unknown to the general public.

To help fill in that knowledge gap, we’ve assembled a list of ten of Spider-Man’s most memorable romantic partners, including two women who never got the chance to actually have a real relationship with either Peter or Spider-Man. There’s almost always a tragic element to the women in Spidey’s life. Some more so than others. There’s also a certain amount of weirdness too. Note that the woman in the picture above isn’t actually Gwen Stacy. It’s her daughter, Sarah; who happens to look exactly like her.

Sarah Stacy didn’t make our list, but feel free to share your favorite loves of Spider-Man in the comment section below!
